Tomáš Petříček is a senior non-residential fellow at the Centre of Global Political Economy at the Institute of International Relations in Prague. He is also director of Progressive Analytical Centre, Prague based think-tank. Since 2022 he is member of the Board of Trustees of the Boris Nemtsov Foundation for Freedom. He received Ph.D. in International Relations from Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague, and M.A. degree in International Political Economy from University of Warwick. He used to serve as a Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic between 2018 and 2021. He previously worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the European Parliament. He used to be external lecturer of International Political Economy at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague. His research interests lie in the area of international political economy, new technologies and development, societal resilience and global environmental politics and climate diplomacy. He is member of the Czech Social Democratic Party.
