Concert in Memory of Boris Nemtsov
and Alexei Navalny.
Pianist – Nikolai Medvedev

04.11.2024

On November 15 at 7:00 p.m., a concert by pianist Nikolai Medvedev will take place at Matthäus-Kirche (near Potsdamer Platz), dedicated to the memory of Boris Nemtsov and Alexei Navalny. Organized in partnership with the “Russland hinter Gittern” foundation, this event aims to raise funds in support of Russian political prisoners.

Nikolai Medvedev:
“Freedom is the most important value to me. Berlin is the capital of freedom. Boris Nemtsov and Alexei Navalny are extraordinary freedom fighters, my heroes, whose memory I will carry with me for life. I am playing this concert in their honor”

The program will feature compositions by musicians whose lives and works reflect the tragedies of two oppressive regimes: Stalin’s in the USSR and Hitler’s in Germany. Among them are S. Prokofiev, E. Schulhoff, V. Ullmann, and V. Zaderatsky.

This concert is more than a musical event; it is a living statement dedicated to the memory of the victims of Putin’s regime and the ongoing struggle for freedom.
